William Kellibrew, LMSW
For over two decades, William Kellibrew has been a dedicated global advocate for human, civil, children, and victims’ rights. With extensive experience spanning multiple sectors, he has implemented trauma-responsive, healing-centered, and culturally sensitive approaches in various fields, including violence prevention, victim assistance, substance use recovery, mental health, emergency management, and international diplomacy.
As a certified strategic planning professional, William provides training, expert facilitation, and technical assistance to federal agencies, states, and national associations. His work includes collaborations with prominent organizations such as the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
Currently serving as the Child Safety Director for the Southeast Region at the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, William directs critical response management systems and offers leadership and guidance to executives, board members, and Club professionals on matters of child and Club safety. Previously, he held roles such as Director and interim Assistant Commissioner for the Office of Youth and Trauma Services for the Baltimore City Health Department.
In addition to his professional achievements, William has bravely shared his own experiences with trauma, garnering widespread recognition. His story of resilience has been featured on major global media platforms, including the Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN, and the Washington Post.
Acknowledged for his impactful contributions, William was honored as a 'Champion of Change' by the White House and received the Voice Award from SAMHSA. He was also the recipient of the U.S. Congressional Victims' Rights Caucus Eva Murillo Unsung Hero Award for his humanitarian efforts.
William holds academic credentials including an associate degree in arts from the University of the District of Columbia, a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from the University of Maryland Global Campus, and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work. He currently serves as a Licensed Master of Social Work, assisting individuals, couples, and families in navigating challenges related to substance use, mental health, and social service systems.
William attributes his success to the support of his grandmother, faith, family, and other influential figures who provided a nurturing environment for his healing and growth.
